Cool. I think alto recorder is really friendly. Embouchure is easy to pick up, and it doesn't hurt your mouth while you're developing it. Also, the basic fingering is fairly similar to flute, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, and oboe, if you ever decide you want to upgrade -- but there's plenty of sophisticated music written for recorder if you want to stick with it, too.

Excellent and inspiring.
