Grading during break isn't fair! :-( First century Christian sounds awesome, but I guess that you're right that it doesn't quite work in the 21st century (sigh...).

D's sense of humor aligns quite well with K's. I thought that was hilarious!

No, grading during break isn't fair, although I only have myself to blame, because I am the one who assigned the work. The problem is that our second term begins at the start of December, so we have this weird 3-week session and then a 2-week break. So I always seem to wind up giving students an essay or a project that's due right before we go on break. Some of my colleagues do this and then just wait to grade them when we return in January, but that just makes things harder as school gets rolling again. So I'd rather have less free time over winter break and have an easier time in January.

D could start a house church ...
