Franklin who?

You'll be interested in the following product from Target:

Franklin_rooseveltThis charming fellow is, it turns out, named "Franklin Roosevelt," and he includes "a 4 min. audio chip allowing it to speak 25 different phrases in the Presidents own Voice!" The box also includes a biographical pamphlet with real photos of Mr. Franklin Roosevelt.

It's so exciting that kids are going to get such a great exposure to American history. I can't wait to have these students in my class!

The comments are particularly amusing, as is the fact that the product has an average customer rating of a full five stars. If it weren't $30, I would seriously buy it just for the fun of it all.

Update (9/7): Apparently someone at Target noticed all the interest this doll was getting and investigated. The doll is now renamed "Benjamin Franklin," and all of the comments have disappeared. Plus, it's listed as "out of stock"! I wonder if it actually got sold out or if they pulled it from the shelves.

Hilarious! ...and a bit unbelievable.

Oh. My. God. That is way too funny!

Too, too ridiculous. Sad.

The comments were priceless. It's nice to see that Target shoppers are so witty.

Who is this What Now?

  • I'm an English teacher who recently made the move to teaching at a wonderful high school (the justly famous Fabulous Girls' School, or FGS), having suffered for several years at a horrible college (the infamous St. Martyr's). Life is good.

I am partner to D. We live in a new-to-us house in Adventure City, where we manage to have relatively few adventures. Two cats -- the Muse and the Contemplative -- live with us and keep life at home plenty adventurous.

I'm also something of a lapsed Episcopalian at the moment. Too much church damage over the last few years has made me anxious and fretful about church. I miss being part of a worshiping community and need to do something about this, but I'm not sure what.

I'm slightly neurotic but in a quirky, charming way. Or so I tell myself. And I'm a big fan of blogging, through which I've met wonderful people I'm proud to call friends.
