a little Advent cheer

Okay, no matter what your religious predilections, you totally have to go check out the wonderful Going Jesus blog, and especially her hilarious Advent blog of religious kitsch called Angels We Have Heard Are High, which is perhaps the funniest thing on the internet.

She started blogging her collection of Christian schlock last Advent, with her wonderful Cavalcade of Bad Nativities,  and followed up during Holy Week with The Passion of the Tchotchke. Any of these is a guaranteed pick-me-up, and I highly recommend bookmarking them for whenever you need a laugh.

Of course, it probably tells you all that you need to know about Sara of Going Jesus that her Cafe Press signature t-shirt has the slogan "wtfwjd?" Or that at her wedding the little favors were wind-up plastic monkeys with bridal veils glued onto their heads. Or that her former blog was called Going Bridal and featured a Cafe Press shirt with the slogan "Please shut up about your fucking wedding."

Ah, good stuff. Those darn-funny Episcopalians! Please go enjoy her wit.

I too am a fan. Good for you sending people her way--it's one of my favorite blogs.

I heart going jesus.

Those fiber-optic angels? And the slam dunk Jesus? Just astounding.

Who is this What Now?

  • I'm an English teacher who recently made the move to teaching at a wonderful high school (the justly famous Fabulous Girls' School, or FGS), having suffered for several years at a horrible college (the infamous St. Martyr's). Life is good.

I am partner to D. We live in a new-to-us house in Adventure City, where we manage to have relatively few adventures. Two cats -- the Muse and the Contemplative -- live with us and keep life at home plenty adventurous.

I'm also something of a lapsed Episcopalian at the moment. Too much church damage over the last few years has made me anxious and fretful about church. I miss being part of a worshiping community and need to do something about this, but I'm not sure what.

I'm slightly neurotic but in a quirky, charming way. Or so I tell myself. And I'm a big fan of blogging, through which I've met wonderful people I'm proud to call friends.
